UNITED STATES – A disabled single mom is going viral after writing a powerful message directed at billionaire Elon Musk and Republican lawmakers for telling people to have more children — while cutting the very programs that keep struggling families alive.
“It’s easy to tell people to repopulate the world when you’ve never had to choose between medication and milk,” she writes.
Her story has hit a nerve online — and for good reason.
Raising a Child Alone and on the Edge
This mother raised her daughter with no partner, no safety net, and only $1,200 a month from disability benefits, food stamps (SNAP), and help from friends who accepted home-cooked meals instead of money.
At times she had to:
- Sleep in a bunk bed in a friend’s spare room
- Choose between food or car insurance
- Stand in food pantry lines
- Skip meals to feed her daughter
- Delay medical care while waiting for a kidney transplant
All while trying to give her child a normal life.
Lost Jobs, No Child Care, and Still Fighting
In the first three years after her daughter was born, she lost five jobs — not because she wasn’t capable, but because she had no child care. A friend eventually helped out for $30 a day and two meals a week, but by then, they had already lost almost everything.
She kept going, moving to south of Denver and finally landing a job. But just when life was improving, she got devastating health news and was forced to go on Social Security Disability Insurance again.
“I’ve lived at the intersection of poverty, parenthood, and disability. And that’s not a fork in the road — it’s a carving knife of reality.”
Elon Musk Says ‘Have More Kids’ — While People Struggle to Survive
The mom is furious at Elon Musk, who has repeatedly said that people need to have more children or civilization will collapse.
“Easy to say when you live in a mansion full of nannies.”
She says Musk’s message ignores real struggles faced by everyday people, especially parents like her, who can’t even afford rent, child care, or basic health care.
Then Came the Cuts: “Now I Might Lose My Kidney Transplant”
Adding fuel to the fire, Republicans just passed a new bill that cuts billions from:
- Medicaid
- SNAP (food stamps)
- And other vital aid programs
These programs are what helped her daughter survive — and without them, she says:
“I could lose my eligibility for a kidney transplant. I’ve already had to cancel doctor visits because I can’t afford the out-of-pocket costs.”
And she’s not alone. The cuts will impact:
- Seniors
- Disabled people
- Low-income families
- Children
- And working parents
“Hospitals will close. People will die. But the rich will get richer.”
“This System Isn’t Broken — It’s Built to Hurt People Like Me”
She ends by calling out the cruelty of the system:
“This isn’t a broken system. It’s a functioning machine of economic violence.”
“If you really cared about families, you’d fight for child care, health care, and food. Not strip them away while telling us to have more babies.”
